Start of my journey

So I finally gave in and rejoined a group at Slimming World.

This isn't my first time with the group rodeo. There have been a few times that I've joined, stayed for a few weeks, then slowly found myself being lured back into the lifestyle of junk food and taxi escorts. It's a long term love affair with junk and laziness that I need to put an end to.

My relationship with junk food is poisonous and if it were a real relationship, people would be telling me to leave. I could easily spend £200+ a month on junk food. Pizza, Chinese, Fish & Chips, snacks from Tescos...

Not only is my habit making me unhealthy and very overweight, it's also leaving me poor with nothing to show for it except my blossoming waist line and lack of energy.

I'm sorry junk food mistress, but healthy eating is my life now and this affair needs to end!

Why Slimming World though?

It's the only 'diet' I have found myself being able to stick too. Not only is it simple enough once you get your head around healthy extras and syns, it's also one of the more friendly and supportive plans.

No restriction, no living off 600kl a day, no pressure to buy into a product that doesn't work.

Just pure healthy eating and healthy lifestyle choices.

I love the atmosphere from group, I love making friends and actually being social, I love the competitiveness that comes from it all.

I rejoined my local group 22/5/17. I go to the Archer Centre group in Braintree run by Matt. He is incredibly inspirational with his journey and focuses a lot of energy into getting everyone to set goals and work towards them.

My first weigh in came in at 16st 8.5lb.

Was I shocked? Not really. I know I'd let myself go and rather than see it as a negative, I had to see this as the start of my journey and that is a positive.

I set myself a target weight of 12st which I hope to get by the end of October. It's a big goal, but I want to lose the weight for my holiday.

So here's me at the beginning, we all start somewhere right?
